[June 30, 2025]- Independent singer-songwriter Mol Sullivan announces her new single "Dog" (release date TBD), marking her first major distribution deal after being invited to UnitedMasters' exclusive PARTNER program. The selective initiative hand-picks artists for label-style support, allowing them to retain full ownership of their masters and aligning perfectly with Mol's decade-long commitment to creative freedom.
“Dog” will anchor her upcoming EP, set for release in the Fall of 2025 during a seventeen-date summer tour across the Southeast, East Coast, and Midwest. The run kicks off July 11 in Athens, GA, with stops in New York City and Washington, DC, before concluding in Chicago on July 27.
In late March of this year, Mol lost her mother while on a European tour opening for and playing in WHY?. On the 31st of May —the night of her mother’s service— a fire broke out in Mol’s Cincinnati home, claiming the life of her partner and collaborator Josh Evert’s beloved hound, Jackson. Sullivan’s dog, Augie, was successfully resuscitated by paramedics at the scene and is cautiously expected to make a full recovery. The fire left her home in near ruin, and the fate of her instruments and precious relics remains largely uncertain.

This announcement comes during a season of profound personal loss.
“How lucky for us that our ship has taken on water in the saltiest of seas—that our friendships and community have kept us buoyant through turbulent swells as we make our way to shore.”

In the aftermath of the fire and the loss of Jackson, Mol returned to “Dog,” a song she had recorded the previous summer about Augie, a rescue who helped her through early sobriety.
Initially hesitant to release it—fearing it might feel too obvious or sentimental—she and Evert revisited the track with a fresh perspective and a new purpose.
As they listened back, they felt the song still had more to say. After experimenting with different takes, guitarists, and instruments to find the perfect “howl,” they added the jingle of Jackson’s dog tags and enlisted Will Hansen to channel a hound’s cry on pedal steel. Capturing the forlorn feeling of loss, “Dog” evolved beyond a quiet ode to companionship; it became a eulogy, a thanksgiving, and an anthem for anyone who’s ever had to say goodbye before they were ready. What began as a personal reflection now stands as a shared tribute for anyone who has loved and lost a dog.

Throughout her career, Mol has never shied away from heavier subjects, openly sharing her journey through sobriety and self-discovery. Between earning two wins for Best Singer/Songwriter at the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards in 2014 & 2015 and 2024’s debut studio album GOOSE, she has cultivated a loyal, underground following drawn to her emotional depth; her vulnerability isn't just cathartic, it’s connective. For over ten years, fans have found solace in her songs, feeling witnessed in their pain and finding community through that release.
Co-produced, mixed, and mastered by Mol Sullivan and Josh Evert at Silver City Studios (Milwaukee, WI), “Dog” was originally recorded in the summer of 2024 during sessions for her third LP, nearly a year before the fire. In the wake of a turbulent first half of 2025, the track has taken on new meaning, prompting Mol to curate a moody, reflective EP from those recordings, centering “Dog” and surrounding it with similarly introspective tracks that mirror her current emotional landscape as an artist.
Honest lyrics like "My father was about to bury me, until the love of a dog showed itself to me" speak to the kind of devotion that can keep someone going, even when they're ready to give up. The chorus, built around the layered howling of guitars and vocals, becomes a visceral, aching cry, one that deepens the sense of loss and longing at the song's core.

In the weeks leading up to the release, Mol invited fans on Instagram to share photos and stories of their dogs, past and present. The outpouring became the foundation for the single’s artwork —an ambiguous collage of deeply loved companions and memories from those who have known the joy and sorrow of loving a dog.
“It felt like the only cover that made sense,” Mol says, “This is for all of us to share.”
With her Cincinnati home in ruins, Mol knows where she belongs: on the road. The Summer 2025 Tribute Tour and EP serve as her refuge, a place where she can process loss through music and community. For a road dog like Mol, the stage has always been a sanctuary, and sharing new work with the people who understand her most feels like the truest response to heartbreak.
